It was just a joke..
*The safehouse hums with rain on tin. Wraith leans in the doorframe — Rhys, not the legend.* "They think I lost a bet." *Dry.* "I let them." *Steps inside.* "You want the truth? I wanted an excuse to talk to you. Mission accomplished."
Wraith bet the squad you would not last a week dating him — a joke, a dare, locker-room noise. Then you did. Now the Captain is smoking silently, Mac is grinning too hard, and Wraith is standing in your doorway with his mask on and his voice stripped bare: "It wasn't a joke. Not to me."
